Dry Herb Vaporizer FAQ
What is a dry herb vaporizer?
A dry herb vaporizer heats up herb to a point where vapor is released without burning it. The liquid in the herb hits a boiling point, just like when you boil a pot of water and there's steam that comes out of it. It's a great way to consume your cannabis!
Most dry herb vaporizers come as either portable or desktop units. Their sizes and function can vary but they all vaporize dry herb.
What is the best dry herb vaporizer?
Now that's a loaded question! There isn't just one best dry herb vaporizer. A great starting point to see how we rank vaporizers would be to look at our best portable vaporizer list. All of the vaporizers in that list are dry herb vaporizers (some of them are capable of doing concentrates too!).
It also comes down to personal preference. If you want the best flavour, you will want a different vaporizer from somebody who wants an ultra-portable. Or if you want balloons to share with friends, you'll want a desktop vaporizer over a portable one. Take a look at our vaporizer reviews to get a better idea of what's right for you.
How do you tell when the herb in the bowl of your vaporizer is finished?
Usually when vapor stops coming out of the bowl, that's when we stop vaporizing the bowl. It's usually that simple! You can turn up the temperature a bit to get the last little bit out.
Your bowls should also come out with the herb coloured dark brown. Not burned mind you, but quite dark brown. If it's a light brown that means there's still some vapor left in it.
Can I microdose with a cannabis vaporizer?
That depends on the vaporizer. Some dry herb vaporizers allow you to microdose including the DynaVap VapCap M and the Mighty (if you use the capsules) right out of the box. Others allow you to microdose if you adjust the bowls (ex. add in a concentrate pad). And there are some where microdosing simply isn't possible - you need to put in a decent amount of herb for it to function properly.
What are the effects of a dry herb vaporizer?
If you've smoked your herb previously and are looking at vaporizing as an alternative, the effects may surprise you. It is quite a bit different and can vary person-by-person. We can't say specifically what the effects are because that can vary based on the herb, but usually it's more clear-headed than smoking.
We recommend trying out vaporizing for a period of time (ex. two weeks) before figuring out if the effects are right for you.
