Top 5 Discrete Portable Vaporizers for 2022
1. Pax 3
Sitting at number one in our list is the Pax 3 from PAX Labs. Almost everyone, novice to experience users have heard of the PAX device. They're pretty much known for their Apple-esque, futuristic, sleek design which delivers on the vapor end. This is the third iteration of this unit and is Pax’s most compact.
With dimensions sitting at 10.5cm x 3.6cm x 2.2cm, this device and its cylinder shape fits almost anywhere. All pant pockets, front to back, even the super small pockets above the main front ones - it fits comfortably.
Navigating this device is simple, all you have to do is press down on the mouthpiece and it should instantly light up and start the heating process. It takes about 15 to 20 seconds to get up to temperatures that range between 130 .C - 202.C. This unit does as it has have haptic feedback, so once it gets up to temp, it'll let you know by vibrating.
Again this unit is the perfect size for using it on the go without drawing much attention. You get great vapor production out of it, and with its battery life, you get about a good 90 minutes of continuous usage, which is great. Honestly, you can't go wrong with this PAX unit, especially when factoring in discretion.
2. Xmax Starry V3
Number two on our list is the Xmax Starry V3. This was released back in 2019, and it includes a couple updates, including an updated mouthpiece, some haptic feedback, amongst other things.
At first glance, this looks extremely similar to the PAX unit, especially with its cylinder shape. With it being a little bit taller than the Pax 3, it's super easy to see where the comparisons come from. With its dimensions sitting at 11cm x 3.5cm x 2.4cm, it's super easy to see where the comparisons come from, especially with this unit being an inch taller than the PAX 3.
When it comes to discreetness, just like our number one contender, this fits almost anywhere. (All pant pockets, front and back, even the smaller front one.) Once you've got your herb loaded in the filling chamber, press the main button five times simultaneously and use the other two buttons to toggle through the temperature settings that range between 130.C - 202.C.
3. Davinci IQC
Coming in on our third position is the DaVinci IQC - With dimensions for this unit is sitting at 9cm x 4.2cm x 2.4cm, this device is only a bit thicker than the previous devices that we've gone through.
For anyone who's used DaVinci products, either the micro or the IQ2, they're well aware that DaVinci pays close attention to detail design-wise, without compromising on functionality. I’d say design wise the DaVinci is similar to the PAX, as they both have sleek designs that resemble Apple.
I personally like how the information is displayed on this unit with their 51 LED display grid. It looks great when they're displaying it, it feels great in the hands, and it also passes our pocket and bag test. You get a good idea where they draw their inspiration from, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.
When you load this bad boy up, it gets up to temperatures in 30 seconds, and you're able to use the preset smart pass, or you can manually dial your temperatures from zero to 220.C. The IQC gets the job done, and with its battery, you can get a 60 minute of continuous usage. (A little pro tip, you can keep extra 18650 batteries on standby and you can keep your session going and make it seamless!)
4. Dotleaf
In at our number four position is the Dotleaf from dotmod. This pocket-sized vaporizer is a powerhouse and it is one of my favorite vaporizers on the market. It has a modular build, so the majority of the pieces can be swapped out - which is extremely handy.
This also has accessory options, so you're actually able to attach a 14mm or 18mm adapter to use this with water pipes. There are multiple possibilities with this unit, which again is why I personally love this thing.
This unit takes about 20 seconds to get up to temperature, and the four preset temperatures available range from 185.C - 245.C, with a boost option which is great for the end of sessions. With the 18650 battery attached, you get 10 heavy-hitting sessions, it feels great in the hands and it passes our pocket and our bag test.
The reason why this is sitting at our number four position is because of how many pieces you can possibly lose with this unit. Don't get me wrong, the dotLeaf's versatility is possibly the unit's biggest asset, but if any of these pieces get lost the device just doesn't feel the same. Especially if you lose the filling chamber.
5. Crafty +
Last on our list, we have the Crafty +. Typically, Storz & Bickel units usually lead these lists especially when it comes to performance. Storz & Bickel is a household name, especially in the vaporizer community, almost everyone has used or knows someone that's used a Volcano.
The Crafty + is essentially the pocket-sized version of the VOLCANO with dimensions sitting at 11cm x 5.7cm x 3.3cm, it is the smallest vaporizer that Storz & Bickel has released to date. Comparing this with the other vaporizers on the list, the CRAFTY is by far the bulkiest, thus why it's last on our discrete list.
When the chamber is loaded, you can choose between three temperature presets, low, medium, or high, or you can use a Storz & Bickel app to dial in your temperature settings, ranging from 40.C to 210.C.
It takes about 10 seconds to reach those temperatures, and you have a boost function, which gives it an additional temperature boost of 10 to 15.C. A lot for a tiny device with arguably the best performance!
